14th river-sea RST22M tanker "Armada Fair" was launched

On 14.09.2015 the 14th river-sea RST22M Volgo-Don Max type tanker "Armada Fair" (building No. is Turkter 082) with deadweight about 7100 t was launched Turkey. Vessel's keel was laid down on 10.54.2014. All three new RST22M tankers "Armada Pride", "Armada Breeze" and "Armada Fair" (launched in August - September) have to be accepted for operation in October, 2015.

Palmali Group of Companies (Mubariz Mansimov is a President of the Group of companies) is a customer.

RST22M project ("Armada" third series) is designed by Marine Engineering Bureau.

Totally 26 tankers of "Armada" type (the first series) and "New Armada" type (the second and third series) are being successfully operated by Palmali at the river-sea transportation from Russian river ports and sea transportations in Caspian, Black, Mediterranean, Baltic and North Seas, including voyages around Europe and to Irish Sea in winter. Also 3 vessels are under construction at 2 shipyards at various degree of readiness now.

The new third series' vessels (11 ones are already under operation) are logical continuation of 005RST01 project tankers known as first series "Armada" which were designed by Marine Engineering Bureau for Palmali Group of companies and which were built on "SELAH" and "ADA" shipyards in Tuzla (Turkey) in 2002-2006 and modification of second series tankers of RST22 project which were built on "Krasnoe Sormovo" shipyard (Nizhny Novgorod) in 2008-2009. Total 10 vessels of "Armada" type of 005RST01 project and 7 vessels of "New Armada" type of RST22 project were built (5 tankers of them were built for Palmali Group of companies).

Using full-turn rudder propellers as movement and manoeuvre unit, using submersible pumps, absence of longitudinal bulkhead in CL, full absence of a framing in cargo tanks, developed trunk are characteristic features of RST22M, RST22, 005RST01 and RST12 vessels' projects.

Vessels satisfy dimensions of the Volga-Don Canal and Volga-Baltic Way. Overall RST22M vessel's length is 139.95 m, breadth is 16.6 m, depth is 6.0 m.

Vessels belong to "Volga-Don Max" type.

New project tankers have enhanced marine function, increased by 750 tons deadweight at sea and increased total cargo tanks capacity while keeping river capacities in comparison with the first "Armada" series.

Vessels satisfy all new international requirements for transportation of vegetable oils, including two-compartment unsinkability.

Special requirements of the Russian and world petroleum companies, additional ecological limitations "ECO PROJECT" (ECO-S) class were taken into consideration during designing.

Total capacity of six cargo tanks and two slop ones is 8089 cub. m, deadweight is about 7103 t while sea draught is 4.60 m. Deadweight is about 4706 t while river draught is 3.60 m. Cruising speed is 10.5 knots.

Two medium-speed diesels (main engine) of 1200 kW each use heavy fuel oil with viscosity IFO380.

Series' lead vessel "Mubariz Ibrahimov" showed:

1. During running test (ballast condition) vessel's cruising speed was 12.1 kn with 85% usage of main engines' capacity;
2. Vessel's speed was 11.5-12.0 kn during ballast run (3.20 m draught), with head wind of 12 m/s and wave's height 1.5-2.0 m;
3. Vessel's speed was 12.3-12.5 kn during cargo run (4.45 m draught), with following wind 25-30 m/s and following seas with wave's height of 6-7 m;
4. Vessel's speed was 9.9-10.2 kn during cargo run (4.45 m draught), with head wind 13-14 m/s and head seas with wave's height of 1.5-2.0 m and with head current 3 kn;
5. Vessel's speed was of 11.0 kn during cargo run (4.45 m draught) on still water with.

RST22M project meets requirements of Russian Maritime Register of shipping class notation KM Ice 2 R1 AUT1 COMBO oil tanker/chemical tanker type 2 (vegetable oil) (ESP) ECO-S.

In comparison with the second "Armada" series, all new requirements of International Conventions and Register Rules (e.g. double bottom and sides access requirements, etc.), were taken into consideration. More powerful six cargo pumps (200 cub.m/h) were foreseen instead of 150 cub.m/h previous ones; this change allows reduce full cargo loading cycle by 2.5 hour. Additionally, submersible ballast pumps are used, stern manifold was excluded and ER equipment arrangement was significantly changed due to refusing the idea of rudder propeller mounting movement through the upper deck.
