The sixth dry-cargo vessel of "Kareliya" type was launched
On August 11, 2006 Onega shipyard (Petrozavodsk) launched sixth multipurpose dry cargo river-sea going vessel of "Kareliya" type with deadweight in the river/sea of 3330/5490 tons with two full-circle rudder propellers.
Shipowner is OJSC "Belomor-Onega shipping" ("Orimi" concern).
Vessel's name is "NIKOLAY KLINOV".
Flag is of the Russian Federation. St. Petersburg is the port of registry.
Dry cargo vessel project 005RSD03 is designed by the Marine Engineering Bureau (MEB).
This is the first vessel in the series which was modified for work on heavy fuel with viscosity till 380 сSt (masout).
Project belongs due to MEB internal classification to the vessels which are destined for "Sormovskiy"/"Volga-Balt" type replacement.
Vessel is assigned for transportation of general, bulk, timber, grain and large-sized cargoes, 8'.5 and 9' ISO containers, dangerous goods of 1.4S, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 classes and cargoes of category B of BC Code. The vessel is going to be used on internal waterways of the Russian Federation's European part, including Volga-Don Canal and Volga-Baltic Way, and also in sea areas according vessel's class, including operation in Baltic, North, Black, Azov, Caspian and Mediterranean Seas.
Vessel's Russian Maritime Register of Shipping class notation is KM LU2 II A3.
Vessel's Overall length is of 108.3 m, length between perpendiculars is of 102.2 m, breadth is of 16.5 m, depth is of 5.5 m.
Deadweight is of 5490 tons when sea draught is of 4.792 m. Deadweight is of 3330 tons with the draught of 3.60 m in the river.
Capacity of three cargo holds is of 7840 cub.m.
All holds are box-shaped, smooth-wall, convenient for carrying out the freight works and placing a cargo without stowing. The cargo holds' sizes are of 21.45x12.7 m (hold No. 1), 27.3x12.7 (hold No. 2) and 26.55x12.7 m (hold No. 3) with the height of 8.3 m.
Hatch covers are of removable type (with gantry crane). Crew consists of 9 persons (11 places).
Cruising speed is of 11.5 knots. Capacity of main engines is of 2x1020 kW. Vessel's speed is of 9.0 kn (fuel consumption is of 4.5 tons) in ballast condition and of 8 kn (fuel consumption is of 4.7 tons) in cargo loading condition with using single engine at 90% of capacity (saving operational mode for this series).
Movement and manoeuvrability of the vessel is provided by two stern full-circle rudder propellers with variable-pitch propeller in nozzles. The drive from main engines to rudder propellers is carried out through mechanical Z-gearing.
Designed vessel hull' life term is of 24 years. The ship steel of category RSD with a yield limit of 235 MPa was accepted for basic hull constructions.
The double bottom is designed for distributed load intensity of 7.5 t per sq.m that allows to use a bucket grab with cargo-lifting capacity 16 tons.
Autonomy in sea is of 20 days, in river it is of 15 days.
Vessel's keel was laid down on 29.12.04. She was launched on 11.08.06.
It is supposed to build eight vessels of this project in total. First five vessels "Rossiyanin", "Ukrainets", "Belorus", "Kazakh" and "Karel" are successfully operated by Neva shipping company, including voyages without reloading from European ports to Caspian ones.
