Automobile-passenger ferryboat concept for line Caucasus - Crimea
As previously reported, in December 2013 a meeting of the working group on coordination, scientific, technical and organizational support of work on the implementation of the federal target program "Development of civil marine engineering for 2009-2016" took place in the Federal Agency of Maritime and River Transport. The meeting was held under the supervision of the Deputy Head of Rosmorrechflot Yuriy Kostin.
The concept of CNF12M (designed by Marine Engineering Bureau) automobile-passenger ferryboat of "classical" line from the port of Caucasus to the port of Crimea was considered as the last (fourth) one. This ferryboat is intended for transportation 300 passengers in saloon and all types of cars on the deck, including cargo car trains, different vehicles and containers on roll-trailers, passengers. Aft cargo handling scheme is foreseen.
The vessel is automobile-passenger double-screw ferryboat without deck sheer, with double bottom, with ER located aft and wheel house located in the middle, with bow thruster.
The vessel can make short international voyages.
RS class notation is of KM Ice1 R2 AUT3-C Ro-ro passenger ship.
Ability of transportation of 7 cargo cars with semitrailer wagons (cargo car trains) together with characteristics of coastal passenger berths of ports of Crimea and Caucasus is the main factor for determination of the main vessel'scharacteristics, as follows:
Length overall is about 69.61 m;
Length (conventional) is of 62.04 m;
Length between perpendiculars is of 60.90 m;
Breadth overall (including side fender guards) is of 14.00 m;
Designed breadth is of 13.80 m;
Depth is of 4.00 m;
Draught (due to Summer Free Board) is of 2.70 m;
Displacement (draught of 2.70 m) is about 1921 t;
Speed on the deep water for fresh painted hull (without fouling) is of 11.2 kn at draught of 2.7 m and 85% of ME capacity.
Vessel is designed for transportation:
7 cargo cars with 12.0/13.5 m semitrailer wagons (cargo car trains);
40 passenger cars (passenger cars only transportaion);
7+6 Cargo car with semitrailer wagon together with passenger car correspondingly.
Allowable load of wheeled vehicles on the axle is as follows:
• 12 t for 4 wheels on the axle;
• 10 t for 2 wheels on the axle.
Passenger capacity provides placing of 200 persons of passenger car drivers and passengers (40 cars for 5 persons each) plus 100 additional passengers.
For placing total of 300 passengers there are foreseen sitting places in the enclosed saloons and tent protected open decks.
For comfortable passengers resting onboard the ferry the following is provided:
• refreshment room;
• ventilation and conditioning system;
• TV broadcasting through TV sets installed in passengers' saloons; also wireless Internet works;
• "mother and child" room with children's corner;
• separate public toilets for women and men;
• the elevator for disable persons.
Vessel's crew consists of 12 officers. In this way, it is expected to work brigade method; crew is going to live on the coast. Duty room, food heating room with ability to store food, office and mess room are equipped for crew.
Fuel and lub. oil autonomy is of 15 days, food anā fresh water autonomy is of 5 days.
Power plant includes, as follows:
• main unit consisting of two diesel engines with maximal continuous capacity of 588 kW each, working towards two full-circle rudder propellers with fixed-pitch propellers in nozzles;
• auxiliary unit consisting of three main diesel-generators (electrical capacity of 184 kW each) and emergency diesel-generator (electrical capacity of 168 kW).
Movement and manoeuvrability of the vessel is provided by two aft Schottel SPR 440FP full-circle ruder propellers with fixed-pitch propellers in nozzles.
ME work towards rudder propeller through elastic shaft and flexible coupling.
Input capacity of each rudder propeller is of 588 kW. Screw diameter is of 1450 mm, area-ratio is of 0.7, the number of blades is of 4, revolutions are of 424 rpm.
Bow thruster of "screw in a tube" type with capacity of 200 kW is provided for improvement of vessel's manoeuvrability at low speeds, during passing narrow waters and mooring.
Two marine evacuation systems (MES) with closed inflatable living raft and evacuation pipe for ensuring access to the raft are arranged by sides. Acceptance rate of the evacuation system is 582 persons per 30 minutes. Each evacuation system includes two living self-recovering rafts (one on each side) for 101 persons.
High speed 15-persons duty boat (located StB) is provided for raft towage.
Ferryboat is equipped with two 52-persons lifeboats each placed by sides. Lifeboat capacity is sufficient for accommodation not less than 30% of the total number of persons on board (as for vessel that carries out short international voyages). Boats launch is done by double-hinged gravity davits. Lifeboat (PS) may be used as duty one.
Two 51- persons living self-recovering rafts (one at each side) are provided on the vessel also. Additional dropped 6-persons living raft is arranged fore on the upper deck.
Central Research Maritime Fleet Institute carried out analyze of economic efficiency of CNF12M automobile-passenger ferryboat.
As a result of carried out modeling of work it follows that the vessel of CNF12M project should make 3 voyages per day (at average) at crossing Caucasus - Crimea (taking into account the smaller amount of transported through crossing cargoes in winter).
Results of operational-economical calculations for CNF12M ferryboat carried out by Central Research Maritime Fleet Institute showed that when using loading coefficients 0.9, 0.8 and 0.7 than payback period will be of 3.3, 5.7 and 8.9 years correspondingly.
