Kherson Shipyard put into operation dry cargo vessel of RSD58 project with deadweight of 6280 t
On 25.05.2013 Kherson Shipyard put into operation dry cargo vessel "Leda" of RSD58 project (building No.18022) with deadweight of 6280 t.
Project RSD58 was designed by Marine Engineering Bureau.
Vessel can be operated for transportations of general, bulk, timber, grain and large-sized cargoes, dangerous goods of 1.4S, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.1, 8, 9 classes of IMDG Code and cargoes of category B of IMSBC Code.
Ukraine Register of Shipping class notation is of KM Ice1 R2-RSN (permissible 3% probability wave height is of 6.0 m). That allows to effect foreign voyages through Mediterranean, Black, Baltic and some other Seas, fully covering traditional commercial geography for mixed river-sea going vessels with navigation restrictions set.
Vessel of prj. RSD58 is a single deck-double-screw one with forecastle and poop, with engine room and deck-house located aft, with double bottom and double sides, with bulbous fore end and transom aft end, with 4 cargo holds.
Vessel belongs to so-called "Volga-Don Max" type due to MEB internal classification. She has general dimensions (maximal length of 138.80 m and breadth of 16.5 m) that are defined by locks' dimensions of Volga-Don Canal (VDC). For characteristic VDC draught of 3.60 m vessel's deadweight is of 4693 t. At sea deadweight is of 6280 t whith maximal draught of 4.25 m.
Vessel has 4 cargo holds with total capacity of 9784 cub.m; that allows to transport cargo with big SF without lack of cargo capacity.
All holds are box-shaped, smooth-wall, convenient for carrying out the freight works and placing a cargo without shifting. The cargo holds' sizes are of 24.6x13.2 (hold No. 1), 24.0x13.2 m (holds Nos. 2 and 3), 23.4x13.2 (hold No. 4), while holds' height is of 8.20 m.
Tank top permissible loading is of 7.0 t/sq.m.
Double sides width is of 2/15 - 1/69 m; double bottom height is of 0.9 m.
Ballast tanks total capacity is of 3112 cub.m.
Two medium-speed Diesels (main engine) of 882 kWt each ensure operational speed of 10 kn. Movement and manoeuvrability of the vessel is provided by two fixed-pitch propellers in turn nozzles with stabilizers. Two electro-hydraulic steering units are placed in the steering gear room for nozzles' turning.
For improvement of vessel's controllability during passing narrow waters and locks and during mooring bow thruster of the "screw in a tube" type is foreseen.
Shifting hatch covers are foreseen onboard the vessel that provide possibility of 100% opening of every cargo hold. Hatches raising is carried out by hydraulic cylinders and their movement is providing by special winches.
Keel of m/v "Leda" of prj. RSD58 (building No. 18022) was laid down on 10.08.2011. She was launched on 18.01.2013 and put into operation on 25.05.2013.
