The third "Volgo-Don Max" class tanker with a deadweight of 6617 tons of RST25 project "Volgotrans - 2501" built on "Lotus" entered sea trials
On August 6, 2020, the third (and the first in the version of a chemical carrier) tanker "Volgo-Don Max" of the mixed river-sea navigation class with a deadweight of 6617 tons of RST25 project "Volgotrans - 2501" (building number 25006) entered sea trials.
Builder - Astrakhan shipyard "Lotus".
The vessel is being built by order of the leasing company "Mashpromleasing"; "Volgotrans" is a lessee.
Project RST25 was designed by Marine Engineering Bureau.
Seven RST25 vessels are under operation now yet. This number includes ones built by Brothers Nobel Shipyard in Rybinsk (3 vessels) and by Zhelenodolsk Shipyard named after A.M. Gorkiy (2 vessels).
Special requirements of the Russian and world petroleum companies, additional ecological limitations of RRR ECO3 class ("CLEAN DESIGN" according to DNV classification) were taken into consideration during designing of RST25 tankers.
Vessels are assigned for river-sea and sea transportation of crude oil and oil products, including benzine, without flash point restrictions, with providing of cargo transportation with keeping of 50°C temperature, as well as chemical and vegetable cargoes, including:

• sunflower seed oil;
• soyabean oil;
• corn Oil;
• rapeseed oil;
• castor oil;
• tung oil;
• cotton seed oil;
• olive oil;
• linseed oil;
• groundnut oil;
• coconut oil;
• palm kernel oil;
• palm kernel stearin;
• methyl alcohol;
• ethyl tert-butyl ether;
• ethylene glycol;
• methyl tert-butyl ether;
• ethyl alcohol;
• isopropyl alcohol;
• calcium lignosulphonate solution;
• ethyl acetate;
• hexane (all isomers).
Simultaneous transportation of 2 cargo kinds is ensured.
Using full-circle rudder propellers as movement and manoeuvre facilities, using submersible pump, full absence of a framing in cargo tanks, enlarged trunk are characteristic features of RST25 vessel. These vessels have no longitudinal bulkhead in CL.
Vessels satisfy the dimensions of the Volga-Don canal and Volga-Baltic way. Overall RST25 vessel length is of 139.99 m, breadth is of 16.6 m, depth is of 5.5 m.
Vessels belong to "Volga-Don Max" tankers' type.
New project tanker have increased river function, increased deadweight by 410 tons in river conditions with keeping sea possibilities in comparison with vessels of "Armada" type.
Total capacity of six cargo tanks and two slop ones is of 6990 cub. m, deadweight is about 6610 tons when sea draught is of 4.17 m. Deadweight is about 5130 tons when river draught is of 3.60 m. Cruising speed is of 10.5 knots.
Two medium-speed diesels (main engine) of 1200 kW each use heavy fuel oil with viscosity of IFO380.
Autonomy is of 20 days.
Crew consists of 12 persons (14 places).
Keel of "Sergey Terskov" RST25 lead vessel (for Lotos Shipyard) with building No. 25004 was laid down on 06.09.11. She was launched on 24.05.15 and accepted for operation on 07.04.16.
Keel of "Yakov Gunin" second vessel with building No. 25005 was laid down on 06.09.11. She was launched on 26.09.15 and accepted for operation on 12.07.16.
Keel of "Volgotrans-2501" third vessel with building No. 25006 was laid down on 25.03.16. She was launched on 28.06.19.
Keel of "Volgotrans-2502" fourth vessel with building No. 25007 was laid down on 07.04.16.
