The Volgograd shipyard put to the shipowner the second vessel and launched the third one of RSD19 prj. multi-purpose dry cargo vessels

On May, 26, 2007 in Volgograd the third dry cargo RSD19 prj. vessel "Iran Amirabad" (building number is 243) was launched.
On May, 29, 2007 in Astrakhan after successful ending of running tests by the Volgograd shipbuilding yard (Vladimir Prudyoos is a general director) which is included in group of the companies "Marine and oil-and-gas projects" (MOP), multi-purpose twin-screw dry cargo motorship RSD19 prj. "Iran Nowshahr" (building number is 242) was put to the customer second in a series. Her deadweight is of 7000 tons.
Series' project of "Khazar" type is designed by the Marine Engineering Bureau.
These vessels are assigned for transportation of general, bulk, timber, grain and large-sized cargoes, 8'.5 and 9' ISO containers, dangerous goods of 1.4S, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 classes of IMDG Code and cargoes of category B of BC Code. Sailing regions are Mediterranean, Caspian, Black, Baltic, White, North Seas, including voyages around Europe and to Irish Sea in winter.
Russian Maritime Register of Shipping class notation of the project is of KM LU2 I A1. The project satisfies all the requirements of international conventions which were actual at the laying down of the vessel's keel.
Vessels belong to so-called "Volga-Don Max" type due to MEB internal classification. They have maximum possible dimensions for Volga-Don canal.
RSD19 prj. vessels have higher class for operation in the sea – I limited and higher standard of hull strength comparing to other vessels of "Volga-Don Max" type which are being built now: prj. 006RSD02 "Nadezhda" type, prj. 006RSD05 "Gejdar Aliev" type, 005RSD06.01 prj. "Chelsea" type.
RSD19 prj. vessel's displacement are the biggest among the dry cargo vessels displacement which satisfies Volga-Don canal dimensions for today.
With characterized draught of 4.5 m in Volga-Don canal deadweight is about 4600 tons, maximum deadweight in the sea with draught of 4.60 m is of 7000 tons.
Overall length is of 139.95 m, overall breadth is of 16.70 m, breadth without taking into account side fenders is of 16.50 m, depth is of 6.00 m.
Summarized capacity of cargo holds is of 10956 m³, total container capacity is of 274 TEU, while holds' container capacity is of 204 TEU.
All holds are box-shaped, smooth-wall, convenient for carrying out the freight works and placing a cargo without shifting. The cargo holds' sizes are of 16.25 x 12.7 (hold No. 1), 29.9 x 12.7 m (hold Nos. 2, 3), 29.25 x 12.7 (hold No. 4) with the height of 8.4 m.
Cargo holds are equipped with sectional hatch covers of folding type with possibility of 100% opening.
Speed of "Iran Anzali" was of 12.2 kN in test.
Two medium-speed diesels (main engine) of 1200 kW each use heavy fuel oil with viscosity of IFO380.
Heavy fuel stores are placed in deep-tanks in area of the ER fore bulkhead, separated from outside water by double bottom and double sides.
Movement and manoeuvrability of the vessel is provided by two fixed-pitch propellers in nozzles with diameter of 2500 mm, two rudders and single bow thruster.
Modern computing methods of hydrodynamics were used at vessel designing that allowed to find an optimum combination of propulsion-rudder system elements and hull forms. Defined combination provides high running qualities of the vessel. It also provides propulsion coefficient above 0.6 during sailing at full draught and maximum speed due to propeller system of "propeller in the nozzle" type.
Towing and self-running test of vessel model were carried out to check project decisions and definitions of running qualities in big test pool at CNII named for academic A.N. Krylov. Carried out tests fully confirmed earlier received CFD simulation results.
Sea sailing autonomy is of 20 day, river sailing autonomy is of 10 day.
Crew consists of 13 persons (16 places).
Designed vessel hull's life term is of 24 years.
The double bottom is designed for distributed load intensity of 8.1 t/m², and also allows to use a bucket grab with cargo-lifting capacity 16 tons.
Keel of "Iran Nowshahr" (building number is 242) was laid down on 30.06.06. She was launched on 01.03.07 and was put to shipowner on 29.05.07.
Keel of "Iran Amirabad " (building number is 243) was laid down on 15.09.06. She was launched on 26.05.07.
"Iran Torkaman" (building number is 244, date of keel laying down is 08.12.06) another dry cargo vessel of the RSD19 project is being built now.
